In 2023 I was able to be a part of a wonderful program called The Chicago Peace Fellows. I worked with various leaders from around the city who founded and labored at various non profit organizations. One of the leaders that stood out was Nachelle Pugh the CoFounder of The John Walt Foundation. Through a tragic event that prematurely ended her sons life Walt Long Jr. she has been able to honor his life by mentoring, encouraging and uplifting young Chicago artists connecting them to wonderful opportunities. On Thursday July 25th Openyonated.com was able to attend their Summer Showcase which did not disappoint. It included a discussion panel of young movers and shakers that included DJ’s, Radio Personalities,Film Makers, Public Relations Consultants and Event Curators. After the panel discussion we were treated to a showcase that highlighted the work of some of the John Walt Foundation’s Apprentices.
