Have you ever attended an event and it turned out exactly as you imagined? That best describes my Valentines Day. When Storie Devereaux first posted the advertisement for her event I just knew I had to be there! I was first introduced to her melodious voice at a presentation of When God Created Woman a production by Eighty-Nine +1 which showcased the talent of an ensemble cast of power house women on Chicago’s local entertainment scene. I’ve watched many of her videos which inspire, motivate and entertain. Many people were introduced to her through her hilariously viral video from the Columbus Bridge and the catch phrase #WhoSentYou. The M Lounge was the perfect setting for the event. It was intimate without being cramped and the ambiance was on point. Storie’s voice is velvety, smooth and powerful at the same time. Her personality has an effervescence that instantly brings your mood up. It’s not often that you meet talented people who are actually nice people but that is definitely not the case with Storie. There is a warmness that pours off of her spirit and makes you feel good. The word of the night was love and love was definitely in the house. The event brought out some of Chicago’s amazing artist many of them were part of the When God Created Woman cast, Yahdna Da’ Beast Destroyer of Eighty-Nine +1 and Robin Bobo of Think Tank NFP. as well as Diana Goddess Warrior of Poetic Thought Thursdays, Black Heaven of the Solace Solace Souls Coalition, and Frank Johnson Jr. of Think Tank NFP.
