We had the pleasure of celebrating the 1 year anniversary of Poetic Thought Thursdays hosted by Goddess Warrior and Black Heaven this month. The event was hosted at the Afrikan Village Cultural Center located at 5840 West Madison in the Austin community. The event was well worth the cover price which was modest $7, which included food for the special occasion. If anyone knows us at Openyonated you will know that we pay attention to details, even the smallest ones. The first thing that stuck out was the warm greeting we received from Goddess Warrior & Black Heaven. They were very appreciative to everyone who attended and it was very obvious.  It is very important to connect with your supporters and that they did.  The venue was nice and provided the proper mood for the occasion. Kudos goes out to artists that partner with existing organizations to build their brands. As usual with poetry events there was an open mic session which gave an opportunity for various artists to showcase their talents as well as features. Chicago has very talented artists! One of the brightest spots of the evening was Tebe Zolango. This was my first time being exposed to his artistry and I was blown away. His performance included poetry, violin, and guitar and he definitely had the crowd engaged in his performance.  In addition to Tebe Zolango you had features Hood Raised the host of “At Ease Sundays” who always does a superb job and comedian Big Keef who kept the laughs coming. Overall I enjoyed myself and give a thumbs up to the set.
